Senators overwhelmingly against debating gambling again

Thirty-six senators _ 11 more than a majority _ said in The Associated Press annual pre-session survey that they would NOT support efforts to revive a casino gambling plan. Talk of casinos and legalizing expanded gambling took hours of debate this year, leading to placement of a constitutional amendment on the November ballot. The Legislature's plan coexisted with another four-part proposal put on the ballot through a circulation of petitions. Voters rejected both plans. Copyright 2004 Associated Press.
